AAPL vs. HPQ: mind share over market share

Tue, Oct 2, 07

After today’s close:

AAPL

AAPL
Market cap: $137.79 billion
Revenue: $22.63 billion
Profit margin: 13.46%

HP
Market cap: $131.58 billion
Revenue: $100.55 billion
Profit margin: 6.76%

HP is the world’s largest computer vendor. However, with a U.S. market share a little over 6%, Apple’s market cap is bigger than HP’s and its profit margin is double that of HP, on about a fifth of HP’s revenue.

Is there a better argument for design ROI??

“Macs came in ugly pink enclosures”

You just offended the entire sub-universe of Hello Kitty devotes. :-)

Perhaps. But even in Macs came in ugly pink enclosures, they are the only access the average consumer has to a modern OS. Most people aren’t geeky enough for LINUX.
