Just saw the Dedieu video in which he noted that for all Samsung’s profitability, it makes products, not platforms. That makes it ripe for these types of shots: it’s riding on others’ market definitions, picking up what it can. They’re well-financed, hardware-savvy and opportunistic, so it works as a business.
We can wonder whether it might fork Android and/or adapt Tizen for its own proprietary platform. Certainly, with a proprietary app and media store, it’s building out the pieces it’d need.
But today, it’s an all-you-can-eat quality buffet instead of a meal.
